Happy Birthday to Stanley South, the Father of Historical Archaeology and self proclaimed groundhog! Dr. South was not only instrumental in the early excavations at Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State Historic Site, he also played a role in literally unearthing much of the lost history of the lower Cape Fear. To learn more about Dr. South, please visit our colleagues at Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson SHS.Happy Birthday to our favorite Archaeologist, Stanley South! Stanley South started excavating Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson in 1958. Many of the ruins uncovered by him are still viewable today.
