DEEP DIVE INTO HISTORY: “U.S. Merchant Marine in World War II”

FreeJoin John Moseley, manager of the North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport, to mark the anniversary of Operation Drumbeat, the sinking of John D Gill, and the Liberty and Victory ships built at the North Carolina Ship Building Company during World War II. Of the nine ships awarded the Merchant Marine’s highest award, three were built on the Cape Fear River.
The program is part of the free Deep Dive into History drop-in series, which gives visitors a deeper understanding of our shared past through costumed interpreters and artifacts. The program runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is designed for all ages. Registration is not required. For more information, call (910) 477-5151.
