At some point today, pause and remember the sheer number of souls lost on this day 78 years ago. Families were not and will not be the same because of today.
The USS Arizona memorial is visited by thousands of people annually but did you know there are two smaller memorials in Pearl Harbor? Both on Ford Island. One, overlooking USS Arizona, the other, overlooking USS Utah. Both memorials have scattered coins signifying how visitors relate to the fallen. Visitors leave a penny to signify their visit to the fallen. A nickel is left behind by a comrade who trained with them, while a dime is left by those who then served with them. A quarter is left by those who were there when the fallen sailor or soldier lost his life.

So please, take a moment and remember the ultimate sacrifice made today 78 years ago.
